Filmmaker and Author John de Graaf has announced that after a 50-year filmmaking career, he is currently well into what will almost certainly be his final film, ECONOCLAST: HERMAN DALY AND THE GOSPEL OF GROWTH. It is certainly one of the most needed and important films in his long career.
ECONOCLAST: HERMAN DALY AND THE GOSPEL OF GROWTH is the timely story of the humble scholar who took on the most-widely accepted belief of his discipline--that continued economic growth is the goal of our economy, and is sustainable on a finite planet. Instead, Daly argued, we should view the economy as a subsidiary of the environment, completely dependent on nature, necessitating limits to growth. In his work in academia and at the World Bank, Herman Daly was a giant in the emerging field of ecological economics.. His life and work have inspired thousands, and through this film, will inspire many thousands more.
A Kickstarter fundraising campaign has been launched to raise the funds that will allow John de Graaf’s team to edit the film, which has already been completed photographed and scripted. John de Graaf’s two previous Kickstarter campaigns were successful, and the films completed on time and under budget.
